I PICTURE HOPE my 2012 Giving Back Project

I Picture Hope ( Free photo sessions for women with or surviving Breast Cancer) is the way I am giving back this year.

My cousin, Louisa died of Breast Cancer back in the mid 70’s I was so young about 10-11 years old.

At the time this illness was not something that people talked about freely, my mom, grandmother, aunt and myself didn’t really know how she had died till years later, when her mother finally told my mother the truth.

No one else in my family has been diagnosed with this terrible illness, thank God!

But I always remember her, she was my favorite cousin, the outgoing one,the fun one, the tell it like it is one, she was way cool, at least I thought so.

She was in her early 30’s when she passed, left 2 sons one was 10 yrs and the other was just 8 months.

They were then raised by their grandmother Mimi who is the widow of my mother’s brother.

Mimi is still with us in her late 80’s now, with my mom not far behind.

Also the other 5 siblings are all doing well my one cousin and her only brother is a United States Marine and we are all very proud of him!

So therefore I feel giving back for this cause is more than just a photo session, its like knowing that these women had the chance to prove that science has come far and now we actually have survivors!

And by showing these women on the pages of my blog other women will have the strength to be able to Picture Hope!

My first session in scheduled for mid January 2012 so stay tuned!
